The Harpers Ferry-Bolivar Historic Town Foundation invites you to our third annual Upscale Rummage Sale with all proceeds to benefit the renovation of the historic First Zion Baptist Church.
The sale will be held on the Church’s lawn (1030 W Ridge St, Harpers Ferry, WV) and will include art, furniture, antiques, and kitchen and household items. We will also have music and snacks. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet your neighbors, enjoy some food and music, and find that perfect treasure you know you need!
The Harpers Ferry-Bolivar Historic Town Foundation aims to protect and preserve African American heritage in our towns by rehabilitating the First Zion Baptist Church building as a historic and cultural landmark. Built in 1894 in a predominantly African American neighborhood, the church was a central meeting place for the local black community that developed alongside Storer College (1867-1955). With this project we will strive to share and celebrate the cultural contributions of the African American community in our towns. We hope to ensure economic sustainability for this work by providing a secular space for educational and artistic programs and exhibits that are open to all.
