The Foundation is delighted to welcome Storm DiConstanzo and Delores Foster to our Board of Directors! After years of vacationing in Harpers Ferry, Storm and his wife Gillian have now made Harpers Ferry their home. Storm is a musician, writer and CFO/Marketing Director of an event production company. Delores is a native of Harpers Ferry and a former member of First Zion Baptist Church which the Foundation is working to restore. Delores attended nearby Shepherd College and has retired from a career in education. Both Storm and Delores were unanimously approved by the membership at our recent Annual Meeting and we look forward to the experience and expertise they bring to the organization.
We’d also like to thank retiring Board members, Gary Hill and Barbara Pusateri, for their years of service to our community. We’ll miss their presence at our monthly board meetings but remain hopeful that they both remain involved as their schedules allow. If you have an interest in being considered for a position on the Board or volunteering on one of our projects, reach out to us at volunteer@historicharpersferry.org.
At our annual meeting on May 6, we also laid out our roadmap for the year ahead. Highlights for the coming year include installation of a new roof on First Zion Baptist Church, publication of a Harpers Ferry Black Heritage Walking Tour brochure, and restoration and commemoration of Pine Grove Cemetery. We have a lot of work and much to look forward to!
