‘Tis the time of year where residents of Harpers Ferry go from living in a beautiful and historic town to a life-sized Christmas snow globe (minus the snow) or a charming model train station depending on your holiday toy preference. Indeed, it does not get more picturesque than Harpers Ferry and Bolivar during the holiday season.

On December 4, the Foundation hosted its Harpers Ferry Tour of Historic Inns to benefit First Zion. Many thanks to the owners of the five inns that participated: Jackson Rose B&B, Light Horse Inn, Rockhaven B&B, Trouvaille Guest House and Stone House B&B. Because of their generosity, we sold 130 tickets and raised $2,600 in gross sales. Also, we want to acknowledge Bolivar Bread Company, Kelley Farm Kitchen, The Anvil, Battlegrounds Café and the Country Café for providing refreshments for our guests. Overall, the event was a huge success!

As many students and parents of students know, before you can properly celebrate the holidays, you need to get through finals. This semester, the Foundation partnered with Professor Mike Lynch from Shepherd University to serve as the subject for Professor Lynch’s business and marketing students’ capstone project. Six teams of students came up with individual plans to help the Foundation improve in a number of areas, such as fundraising and social media. On December 7, the students presented their projects to Professor Lynch and the Foundation Board. The students impressed us with their research and creative ideas! We expect to implement a number of their proposals in 2022.

As we close out 2021, we want to take a moment to thank YOU! Our success this year on a number of initiatives would not have been possible without your support. We expect many exciting things in 2022, and we look forward to your continued interest and participation. We wish you all the best in the New Year.

Holiday chaser: Even though we are past Christmas, check out this holiday music video filmed this year in Harpers Ferry! Beautiful!
